Shortest Dead Show ever ???
I was booking concerts for OSU at the time of this show and the Belkins were kind enough to get me in since it was sold out. No seats out front, so my date and I had to sit on Phil's amp box on side of stage for the show. No big scene backstage, us two and a handful of Hells Angels. Reading the posts regarding this show and I see that all have failed to mention one big event that shaped the music that night. Word out of Ghana was just getting back to the states regarding Jonestown and the scene there. Very heavy hearts in and around the band. Jerry called off an encore as he had his leather on and briefcase in hand leaving out the backdoor. A Great, albeit short show on the North Coast !

2nd set opening Jam.... WOW!
I don't know what Jerry was doing during setbreak, but all I can say is that his playing during the jam to open the second set COOKS. If you have not heard this, give it a listen for sure.

I find Donna's catterwallin' (in fact, I think if you look in the dictionary under catterwall, you would find a picture of Donna) particularly irritating on Passenger. Otherwise, a decent effort. Seems to me this period between hot 77 and early 80s as a time in which they are searching for the sound. Everything seems to be going through the motions, with sparks of brilliance.

great show but hasn't anyone noticed this copy plays fast??!!! Jerry's god, i mean good but cmon!! his voice wasn't that high since puberty:)\
but a BEAUTIFUL show none the less, try the other sbd for best speed quality
five stars for the show two for recording quality
although some shows dare i say could benifit from the bump in speed this is not one of them

Nearly as good as 2-17-79, but there is only twenty seconds of jamming post-vocals in Supplication.
Thanks for putting set one together; not sure yet if it rates higher (I reviewed set two on the other SBD recording).

with apologies to Jonathan, the first set of this show is a horrible recording. I had to grit my teeth through the whole thing. thank god the second set comes thru with great sound; not only that but a wild one too!!!

this has long been favorite of mine since it was my first show..i have had a decent board coy of second set but am pleased to see and hear what i don't remember. the beginning of the second set with jam-drums-jam is without weir. what the problem was i don't know but he doesn't join in until jackaroe. this venue was an excellent place to see them because it was on the lake downtown and small with great acoustics. best peggyo ever...i'm sure you'll agree...future dicks pick

best shakedown ever
without a doubt the funkiest shakedown i have ever heard. very good sandwiched between playin & world to give. get it for the unusual 2nd set. the shakedown is for the ages. so funky it hurts.

I've been wondering if an entire copy of this show would ever surface, so big thanks to all those involved in splicing and dicing this together. I've enjoyed listening to the second set for years, but hearing the whole thing places things into better perspective. As expected, the sound is iffy in places, but that doesn't overshadow the joy of hearing this show in its entirety. The five stars pertain to the quality of the musicianship and song choices (franklin's, roses, jam>Jackaroe (!!), World to Give (!!!)), not the sound quality.
